A very unique vessel. The Daniel Adamson Steam Ship.
This video is about a unique ship. The Danny steam ship. It has a unique back story. It was built by Cammell Laird the shipbuilders and was built for the Shropshire union canal as a tug. Later it was purchased by the Manchester ship canal company re named and called the Daniel Adamson. It had a job transporting the directors of the ship canal company around and hospitality to visiting dignitaries. We get a glimpse into the luxurious surroundings of this ship and take a look into the ships engine rooms.

I was born and lived in Cambridge till i was in my 20s im 50 this year and i can tell you now that urban renewal is not the best for the working class of any town or city .. when i was living in Cambridge it was a working class town with a couple of posh area's of housing and a University .. yes there were loads of students there but it was a nice place to live. I went back a few years ago and the change is shocking.. loads of student flats the cheapest house was 450 grand.. all my friends can't afford live in the town they were born in.. yes the city center looks nice but the soul of the place has been ripped out.. thankfully i moved to Lancashire 19 years and a absolutely love living up north.. the people are fantastic the countryside is beautiful and the small mill towns are a fantastic place to live...

Hi Martin…enjoyed your (very honest) video describing early childhood. I’m a bit older than yourself from Stockport and my early childhood was spent in a slum clearance house which, due to the fact I knew no difference, I thought was fantastic! The surrounding houses were all empty and I’d climb in through the windows and use them as my personal den. They had to move us when the builders accidentally knocked the outside loo down! I too had an unfeasible nemesis who went by the name of ‘Odd George’…the poor old bloke was probably suffering from early onset Alzheimer’s but we kids avoided him staring at us blankly from beneath a battered Fedora at his window. Such a shame that in the early 60’s he was left alone with no family. Your friendly Cerebral Palsy victim, Irene I think you said her name was, could still be with us as folk with this disability can easily live into their 70’s…fascinating stuff, I love your down to earth videos and enjoy the Stockport ones especially but they’re all good. Looking forward to the next one Sir. Good luck!

That looks like a surface water drain to me what you referred to as the main sewer, there were no solids and it was flowing very fast. I may be wrong tho, If it is storm water it will go to a water course and the water in that second old sewer that you showed was heavily polluted. Sure hope it isn’t going Into a river somewhere as it will be causing some environmental damage.
